Is 30 Days Enough?

How could anyone forget the death of Tyler Clementi? His roomate, Dharun Ravi, who used a remote webcam from his dorm to spy on Clementi in an intimate encounter with another man in September 2010. Days later Clementi jumped off the George Washington Bridge at 18-years-old. Ravi was facing as much as 10 years in state prison and was sentenced yesterday, May 21, to a 30-day term in the county jail for intimidation and invading the privacy of his roomate. I can't believe Ravi is only recieving 30 days. That is disgusting. I believe that this man should recieve life in prison or at least longer then just a month. Everyone has their own opinion but this is just wrong and not fair to Clementi's family. For the full story visit this site.

EDC: My Experience

This past weekend was the best weekend of my life! EDC was such an unbelievable experience!! I've never danced so much and my ears are still ringing as I'm writing this post which is pretty annoying but definately worth it. I'm so happy that the weather was so beautiful because now it's suppose to rain for the rest of the week. :( Below are a few pictures I took while at EDC. My favorite part was definately seeing Afrojack. Somehow I managed to get front row and Afrojack absolutely killed it! I can't wait to go back again next year!!! For more information about the experience and this past weekend visit EDC NYC's site here.

The Golden State

This past weekend has been a success in Jersey for both musical festivals, Bamboozle and Electric Daisy Carnival. Sgt. Connie Breech of the Asbury Park police department said, "People thought this was going to be some kind of crazy weekend but people were well behaved." Electric Daisy on the other hand is a controversial gathering because there have been mass arrests and drug overdoses at other tour stops. Quoted from this article, "New Jersey was the center of the musical universe over the weekend and the fests were a shining success, proving that loud, frantic sounds do not necessarily induce destructive behavior. Not in Jersey, at least."

Clearing Confusion

Just to be clear, on my previous post, "Rumor Has It," the law about texting being illegal while in Fort Lee is just a RUMOR. It seems that all of the comments on the post say how crazy this new law is. The actual law is that you cannot jay walk in the town of Fort Lee. This just shows how easily information can be misread and how the media can give out the wrong facts. Such a huge problem we have in today's society. Make sure you read carefully people! :)

Visit this site and read under UPDATE for the correct information

Morning Wake Up

Jump start your day without jump starting your car. If you're a Jersey girl you're probably always on the run or always in a rush. That's just how we are and like to live a fast-paced life. Dunkin' Donuts provides you with drinks and food that provide you with enough energy to get through the day that could be made in less than a minute. There is almost a Dunkin' Donuts in every town so visit their website for the nearest location. The newest drink at Dunkin' Donuts is the Black Cocoa Creme Iced Coffee to promote the movie Men In Black 3 which comes out in theaters on May 25. I just tried this drink the other day and I must say it's pretty delicious. It tastes like cookies n' cream so if you like that flavor definitely try this drink out!

DTS for MDW

It seems that everyone from North NJ always flocks down the shore for Memorial Day Weekend. Whether it's Seaside Heights or Wildwood, prepare for a long car ride for wherever you're traveling to. The Garden State Parkway is not a fun time during any holidays. If you're going down the shore there are plenty of things to do such as show off your beach body at one of the many beaches, entertain yourself while on the board walk and see "Jersey Shore" wanna-bees, or see some pretty fireworks. If you're one of the not so lucky ones who won't be going dts that weekend, like myself, there is still plenty of things to do. Check out your local towns website or surrounding towns to see if there are any parades going on or any firework shows. Or host your own BBQ and spend some times with good friends and family. Also, try to remember what MDW is all about. Of course it's the weekend when all pools and beaches offically open and it's a preview of how the summer will be; but it's also a time to remember all of the fallen Union soldiers of the Civil War.

Rumor Has It

Texting while walking is illegal?!

This is definitely qualifies under #jerseygurlprobz. How could they do such a thing?!? "Thank you Jesus" (Melissa Gorga voice) that this is just a rumor that the media got mixed up. The real truth is that in the town of Fort Lee, NJ, it is illegal to jaywalk, and texting while walking is only illegal if you are jaywalking too. Last year 74 pedestrians were hit in Fort Lee which is the main reason why this law went into effect. There is a $54 jaywalking ticket and more than 117 tickets have been already issued. So text away while walking just make sure to be careful when approaching cross walks and make sure you don't bump into anyone or anything.

EDM: The New Rock 'n' Roll

Electric Daisy Carnvial is only two days away. Starting on May 18th and going until May 20th, MetLife Stadium will be attracting over 100,000 people. From the lights, beats, and DJ's to the carnival rides and exoctic dancers, EDC will create an atmosphere like no other musical festival that the NY metro area is use to. EDM is short for electronic dance music and is going mainstream. Tickets for EDC were sold out before the promotor announced the lineup and the event has an 18-plus age limit after a 15-year-old girl died of a drug overdose at a show in Los Angeles two years ago. A few of my personal favorites that will be performing at EDC include Avicii, Calvin Harris, Michael Woods, Afrojack, Carl Cox, and Armin van Buuren. I will be attending EDC on both May 19th and May 20th & I'm more excited than ever! I can't wait to part take in this amazing experience. I will be doing a follow up post after the festival and hopefully I'll be able to share some of my own pictures too! For the full line up and important information about the festival visit their offical website here.

Information of the event can also be learned here.

Hot Rides

On Sunday morning, May 13th, two men who were driving Ferraris were involved in a crash that killed a Kinnelon motorcyclist, Stephen Lenge, 56, near MetLife Stadium. Joseph Ferretti, 28, of Dumont, and Joseph Meyer, 19, of Oveido, Fla. were arrested without incident and charged with death by auto. Both men are being held at the Bergen County jail in Hackensack in lieu of $50,000, with no 10 percent option. The two men are employees of Gotham Dream Cars of Englewood and were returning from fueling up the cars when the wreck occured. Lenge was a stagehand who was on his way to work to build stages for the upcoming event at MetLife this weekend, Electric Daisy Carnival, when he was struck and killed. It's horrible when luxury items turn out to be not so luxurious at all. My thoughts and prayers go out to Lenge's family during this devestating time. For the full detailed article visit this site.

RHONJ RECAP

Last night RHONJ aired the episode "Teresa Can't Take It Anymore." Most of the fans would agree with myself and say that we can't take Teresa anymore. It seems that she just keeps finding reasons to pick a fight with her brother and sister-in-law. I think that Teresa loves her brother a lot but is jealous of her sister-in-law, Melissa Gorga, because she wishes she had a husband that would treat her as good as her brother Joe treats Melissa. Maybe if Teresa married a different Joe instead of Joe Giudice she would be getting better along with her family and wouldn't have to be surrounded by constant drama. For a full recap of last night's episode visit this site.

Kim Kardashian- Tannerexic

I'm sure you remember Patricia Krentcil from my earlier post, the tannerexic NJ mother who was accused of taking her 5-year-old daughter tanning. Kim Kardashian decided to have a little fun and post a picture of herself on Twitter with an extreme self tan. Along with the picture she posted the comment, "The tannerexic mom has some serious competition!!! LOL." If I was Kim I think I would have skipped making this joke. It's just embarrassing for her but that's just my opinion. But of Kim will do anything to get her 5 minutes of spotlight.

How Jersey are you?

I came across this quiz and figured I'd share it. Some of the questions describe Jersey perfectly while others are too stero-typical or are out dated for my age, which results in me not knowing what they are asking. I took the quiz and I'm 70% New Jersey. I think I could have done better but try to beat my score! Take the quiz here!

Care for a Canoli?

Pastries are never a problem, only if you have one to many. If you care for a canoli or any other sweet treat then stop on by Carlos Bakery in Hoboken, NJ! Carlos Bakery is the famous bakery run by Buddy Valastro from the show "Cake Boss" on TLC. On May 2nd I had an amazing opportunity to get to be an audience member on the "Rachael Ray Show" and it is the episode where Valastro will be co-hosting. Being an audience member came with a lot of perks including getting a cupcake home-made from Valastro's bakery. Since the bakery is so popular and famous, there is usually a line going down until the end of the block. To skip out on waiting for pastries, Carlos Bakery has made it easy that you can order your pastries online and then skip the line when you come to pick them up. Pretty sweet, huh?

Mazel's All Around

If you are a big fan of the Bravo TV Network like myself, then I assume that you are a fan or at least know of Andy Cohen. Cohen just released his first book, "Most Talkative: Stories From the Front Lines of Pop Culture." His new book covers everything from his childhood in St. Louis through his years as a news producer to his current job at Bravo. Today, May 10th at 7pm you could meet Cohen and get a signed copy of his book at Bookends in Ridgewood, NJ. This event is free with the purchase of his book beig sold at Bookends for $25. I wonder if his favorite RHONJ star Milania will be making a suprise appearance.

Gorga's List Mansion for $3.8 Million

RHONJ stars Joe and Melissa Gorga have just listed their mansion in Montville Township for $3.8 Million. The mansion was built in 2009 by Joe and it is a colonial style home which features six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, four fireplaces, and a three-car garage. Joe reported to US Weekly, "We tried Montville, but it just wasn't for us. We want to go back to Franklin Lakes, which is closer to where I work, and we're looking at a couple properties now." It's hard to believe the Gorga family will be moving after Joe spent so much money and time building a recording studio in their home for his wife Melissa, so that she could pursue her music career. It seems like they are trying to get as far away as they can from Joe's cousin, Teresa Guidice, and surround themseleves in the town where the rest of the cast members live including the Laurita, Manzo, and Wakile families.

Lions & Tigers & Bears, Oh My!

Most Jersey girls love everything animal print. But having one of these exotic animals in your town isn't as exciting. There has been reports of of seeing a big cat, either a bob cat or mountain lion in the Westwood/Washington Township area in the ever so famous part of NJ, Bergen County. The first local reports came from Westwood residents who said they saw the large cat in Pascack Brook County Park. The National Park Service has recommended that in the event of an encounter with a mountain lion, "you should make noise, standing up to appear as large as possible, throwing rocks and sticks and fighting back if a mountain lion attacks." So basically I should put a piece of meat in my hand and hope that I survive. For more great tips visit this link.

Some Like it Crispy

"Jersey Shore" has invented the phrase GTL but it seems as though some residents in Jersey are over abusing the T part of the phrase. Patricia Krentcil, a 44-year-old NJ resident was accused of bringing her 5-year-old daughter tanning which resulted with the girl having burns on her body. She was charged with second-degree child endangerment and denies that the event ever took place. A teacher at the young girls school overheard her saying to classmates that she "went tanning with Mommy," and contacted the police. Both the father and mother say that it was an 85 degree day and their daughter got sunburned. Krentcil said that taking her daughter to the salon with her while she tans is like an errand for her and said, "It's like taking your daughter to go food shopping." Next time I go to ShopRite I'll be sure to put on my SPF 50.
